WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's soccer team battled the No. 7 Adelphi Panthers to the wire before being upended 2-1 in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon at Kayo Field. The Chargers are now 3-1-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.
KEY PLAYERS
· Carlie Schecht (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) scored the New Haven goal in the 76th minute off a corner kick served in by Sierra Stein (Sherman, Conn./Immaculate).
· Deandra Nash (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) made 12 saves for the Chargers, a season-high.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· Scoreless into the 31st minute, Adelphi tallied twice, 65 seconds apart to take a 2- 0 lead into halftime.
· After a weather delay forced an extended halftime, New Haven came out firing in the second half.
· In the 76th minute, the Chargers earned a corner kick after a shot by Rachel Dempsey (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) was blocked by an Adelphi defender over the end line. Stein served the corner into the mixer where Schecht was able to head the ball into the left corner of the net, slicing the lead to 2-1.

New Haven is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 17 when it travels to American International for a Northeast-10 Conference match. Kickoff in Springfield, Mass. is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
