Brie Pergola (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) of the University of New Haven women's basketball team (7-8, 3-7 NE10) has been named the Northeast-10 Co-Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday. This is the second time in her career that Pergola has received the nod.
In a 1-1 week for the Chargers, Pergola shot 57 percent from the field (12-of-21), averaging 13.5 points per game. She also pulled down an average of 5.5 rebounds per game with an assist and a block.
In a 52-43 win at Saint Michael's on Tuesday, Pergola tied as the top leading scorer of the game, netting 15 points on 6-of-12 (.500) shooting. She also converted on her only shot from beyond the arc and went 2-of-2 from the free throw line while pulling down seven total rebounds. Against No. 7 nationally ranked Bentley, Pergola shot 6-of-9 from the floor (.667) for all 12 of her points and pulled down four rebounds which finished second on the team.
On the season, Pergola is averaging 30.0 minutes per game with an average of 10.6 points per game. She also leads the Chargers in assists with 36 (2.4 per game).
Emily Micille of the Adelphi Panthers was also named Northeast-10 Co-Rookie of the Week with an average of 14.5 points per game (12-of-20 FG), and 5.0 rebounds per game.
