FULL NE10 RELEASE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – For the first time in her career, junior
Alexandria Kerr (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) of the University of Women's Basketball team was tabbed the Northeast-10 women's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 1, 2018. Kerr is also the first New Haven basketball player to earn the honor since
Briana Bradford '16 did in February of 2016.
The nod comes to Kerr after a career game against Post on New Year's Eve as she netted a career-high 36 points (14-of-19 FG) on 74-percent shooting in the 91-60 win. By the end of the first half, Kerr had already matched her previous career-high in points with 27. Her 36 points were the most by a charger since
Aquillin Hayes '15 scored 32 points against California Baptist on March 24, 2015. Kerr also hit four three-pointers to contribute to her 14 field goals that were also both career-bests. Kerr also led the Chargers with four made free throws, three steals, and was second on the team in rebounds with seven.
The women's basketball team returns to the court tomorrow, January 3
rd, for the annual Class at the Court game against Saint Anselm. Tip-off at Charger Gymnasium is slated for 1:00 pm, and for fans who are unable to attend, live stats and video will be available on the Charger Sports Network.
