The all-time leading goal scorer (220) in New Haven women’s lacrosse history, Brigid Brady is the second women’s lacrosse player inducted into the New Haven Athletics Hall of Fame.
A 2008 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-American, Brady helped lead the Chargers to 42 wins over four years as well as the programs first ever Northeast-10 Conference and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2009. In addition to her All-American accolades, she was a three-time IWLCA All-Region honoree as was awarded All-Conference accolades all four years with the program.
The Long Island native began rewriting the New Haven record books the moment she stepped on campus. In her rookie campaign, Brady scored 56 goals, which at the time was the most ever in a single season in Charger history. She added six assists for 62 points, all leading to All-East Coast Conference Second Team distinction. As part of her 56 tallies, Brady set another school record as a rookie, scoring eight goals in a single game against Saint Anselm (Mar. 31, 2006).
As a sophomore, Brady increased her scoring output, compiling a career-high 58 goals, which remains the sixth most in a single season at New Haven. Among her 58 goals were 21 free position scores, which remains third all-time. Following the season, she was named Second Team All-Conference and garnered her first All-Region accolade with an IWLCA Second Team distinction.
Her junior campaign ended in style when she was named Second Team IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American after earning First Team All-East Coast Conference and IWLCA First Team All-Region honors. She closed out the season with a team-high 53 goals, already etching her name in the career record book as the all-time leader in points and goals. With a team-high .558 shooting percentage, she matched her career-high 21 free position goals and once again tallied impressive numbers against Saint Anselm by scoring seven times.
In her senior season, Brady helped lead the Chargers to a school record 16 wins and the program’s first ever Northeast-10 Conference title, defeating Southern New Hampshire 12-7 in the championship game at DellaCamera Stadium. That season, New Haven was one of six teams to compete for an NCAA Division II Championship as the Chargers closed out the year ranked seventh in the nation. Brady would cap her career with 53 goals, earning IWLCA Second Team All-Region Honors and NE10 All-Conference accolades.
Following graduation, Brady began her coaching career with the Chargers, serving as an assistant for Jen Fallon from 2011-13. After the conclusion of the 2013 campaign, Brady was named the head coach at fellow NE10 member Saint Michael’s where in her first season she led the Purple Knights to their highest win total in six seasons. Overall, Brady led the Purple Knights to 21 victories and an NE10 Championship appearance in 2015, the first for Saint Michael’s in seven seasons.
