Dave Haubner became the first New Haven football player to earn Kodak All-America honors, starring as a four-year offensive guard for the Chargers. He also helped the team post its first winning season as a Division II program in 1985.
In addition to his Kodak All-America honors as a senior in 1985, Haubner was also named tot he Associated Press Small College All-America squad. He also garnered All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference and All-New England distinction in 1985, the second-straight season picking up the accolades.
Behind his play, the New Haven offense gained better than 10,000 yards and scored more than 625 points. During the 1985 season, Haubner helped his team to two of the biggest wins in New Haven history to that point as the Chargers defeated nationally-ranked Towson State and secured their first win over crosstown rival Southern Connecticut State.
