The New Haven baseball team posted a 122-24 four-year record with Don Murelli on the roster and advanced to the NCAA Division II College World Series in three of his seasons on the diamond in West Haven.
Murelli earned All-America honors after hitting .375 as team captain of a 1979 Chargers’ squad that finished fourth in the nation. At the time of his Hall of Fame induction, he held the UNH records in career games, at-bats, runs, hits and batting average.
Murelli played three professional seasons in the Baltimore Orioles’ farm system before suffering a career-ending injury.
