Donna Cweklinsky became the first member of the Athletics Hall of Fame inducted solely for softball after leading the Chargers to their first-ever postseason appearance in the 1985 ECAC Championship Tournament.
She was inserted into the lineup both as a pitcher and designated hitter, seeing action in all 42 games. During that season, the right-hander owned a 17-7 record with a 1.21 ERA and 10 shutouts in 179 innings. At the plate, Cweklinsky sported a career-best .314 batting average with a team-high five doubles, six triples and 21 RBI.
Overall for her career, Cweklinski combined for a 1.83 earned run average, which remains the eighth lowest in school history as of January 2016. Combined over her four years, she helped lead the Chargers to a 64-66 overall record, including the first 20-win season in school history with a 27-16 mark in 1985.
Cweklinsky was named to the All-ECAC Tournament Team and to the All-New England Collegiate Conference Second Team in 1985. She was one of only two pitchers to rank in the top five in both ERA and batting average within the New England Region.
