A 2001 All-American defensive lineman for the New Haven football team, Dwayne Brown remains the all-time leader in career sacks over his four-year career. A force on the defensive line from his freshman season, Brown led the Chargers to 20 victories over the span of his time at New Haven.

Brown played in every game during his rookie campaign, closing out the season with 22 tackles and six sacks while forcing a fumble. He followed that up with a career-best 57 tackles as a sophomore and matched his six sacks from 1998. He also forced four fumbles as a sophomore, recovering one.

As a junior, Brown finished with 42 tackles, eight sacks and a pair of interceptions. All combined over his sophomore and junior season, he finished with 25 tackles for loss. Following both seasons, he collected All-East Coast Athletic Conference honors as well as All-New England accolades as a junior.

During his senior campaign in 2001, Brown got to the quarterback 10.5 times, a number that still stands as the fifth-best in single-season program history.  His 10.5 sacks were also tied for the seventh most in the nation, while he amassed 32 total tackles in his senior campaign.

Brown ended his career not only as the all-time sacks leader (30.5), but also the all-time leader in tackles for loss with 44.5 and second in forced fumbles with nine.  All total, Brown collected 153 tackles, nine forced fumbles, a pair of fumble recoveries and picked off three passes during his tenure.

Following his graduation, Brown began a career working with youth in the New Haven area through the Youth Continuum program. In that role he provided life and career counseling for a diverse population of high risk and homeless children. He then transitioned his professional career to corrections, beginning with a three year stint as a juvenile detention officer before relocating to Virginia.
