A two-time All-America selection from the first three New Haven varsity baseball teams, Anquillare hit at least .430 in each of his seasons at UNH.
The third baseman turned in a career-best .481 mark in the 1965 season and is among the Chargers’ all-time leaders (second) with a .458 mark for his career. He registered at least 25 runs and 25 RBI in each of his three seasons at New Haven.
He owns the highest career all-time on base percentage at .564 and is third in slugging percentage (.664), while also ranking eighth all-time in the career record books tallying 51 stolen bases.
Anquillare had a stellar campaign in 1965, cracking the top five in the single season record books. He ranks first in on base percentage with .613, and second in batting average, .481. He stole 28 bases which pits him fifth all-time.
Anquillare later played for five national championship teams on the professional softball diamond including a pair of Most Valuable Player honors in a national competition as a player/coach for the Raybestos Cardinals.
He returned to the University in 1983 as an assistant coach for his former skipper and fellow Hall of Famer, Frank “Porky” Vieira.
