A 1,000-point scorer for New Haven men’s basketball in the late 1970s, Larry Haney was an All-City honoree as a Charger from 1975-79.
He averaged a career-best 18.6 points per game as a junior and averaged 12.2 points per contest during a career in which he compiled 1,132 career points, one of 34 members of the 1,000 Point Club.
As a senior, Haney shared team Most Valuable Player honors and helped the Chargers to a 16-11 record – the most wins by a UNH team in a decade. He also compiled 308 assists (10th most in school history) for his career and was a career 7 percent free-throw shooter, and remains eighth best in school history.
