Lionel Maull captured three Eastern Intercollegiate sprint championships and participated in two record-setting relay championship teams for the New Haven track and field squad.

In 1984, Maull established a Connecticut Intercollegiate 100-meter record while winning the meet championship. He received All-New England honors in each of his final three years with the Chargers. The sprinter was also a member of the 1600-meter relay team which participated at the 1985 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships and was also a finalist in the 55-meter dash during the 1986 IC4A Championships.

Maull was also New Haven Gridiron Club’s Most Outstanding Player in 1983 as a member of the UNH football program. He was later drafted by the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.
