The program record holder in two events, Marcus Walton earned All-America honors for New Haven men’s track and field.
He set the standard in both the 55-meter and 110-meter hurdles as a freshman in 1993 – breaking the records held by his head coach, Major Ruth – and improved upon those marks several times during his four-year career. As of 2015, his times still stand as program bests at 7.43 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles and 14.53 seconds in 110-meter hurdles.
Walton won Connecticut Track Conference Championships in two seasons and, in 1995, earned All-America status with a third place finish in the 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships. Also an All-America performer in the 55-meter hurdles in 1996, Walton was a four-time All-New England All-East honoree.
