A Daktronics All-American, Michael Moras drove in 169 runs during his four year career, a number that remains the most ever by a New Haven baseball player. Over a career where he hit .344, the Orange, Conn. native helped lead the Chargers to 100 wins and an appearance in the NCAA Regionals in 2006, the final of 18 national tournament appearances under legendary head coach Frank ‘Porky’ Vieira.

The backstop started making a name for himself the minute he set foot on the New Haven baseball field, earning Rookie of the Year accolades from the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) following a freshman campaign where he was second on the team with a .364 batting average and 30 RBI. Overall, Moras finished with 44 hits as a freshman, 13 of which he legged out for a double, leading the team.

As a sophomore, Moras led the Blue and Gold with a .571 slugging percentage, smacking 21 extra base hits, 13 doubles and eight home runs, both of which were second most on the team. As the primary catcher for a staff that ranked 37th nationally out of 216 Division II schools, he threw out 20 runners attempting to steal, a number that led the NYCAC. Following a season where he hit .349 with 61 hits and 37 RBI, Moras was selected to the NYCAC First Team All-Conference and earned All-Northeast Region accolades from ABCA/Rawlings and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

The 2007 season was one where Moras wrote his name in the NCAA record books after putting up one of the best individual game performances in school history. Overall, he led the Chargers and the East Coast Conference with a career-high 70 RBI setting a single season school record. Included in that number was 12 runs which came on a Monday afternoon when he smacked five hits, including three home runs against Assumption. His 12 RBI in that game was one shy of tying the all-time NCAA record, while two of the four-baggers were grand slams which remains tied for the most in a single game in NCAA Division II history.

Following his junior campaign where he hit a career-high .374 with 68 hits, Moras was one of three catchers honored nationally with his selection to the Daktronics All-America Third Team. That distinction followed a second-straight season earning regional accolades from the ABCA/Rawlings and NCBWA while also earning All-ECC First Team accolades for the third straight season.

Moras closed out his career earning All-Conference accolades for the fourth time following his senior season. During that campaign, he hit .296 with 53 hits and 32 RBI, adding 13 doubles to his collegiate total, capping his career as the all-time leader in doubles.

In addition to his RBI (1st) and doubles (2nd) numbers among the top-10 all-time, Moras is also fourth in program history in games played (175), at bats (657), hits (226) and walks (83) and is fifth in runs scored (144) and eighth in home runs (25).
