Mike Raczka was one of the best lefthanded pitchers in school history, setting the school record with 312 career strikeouts, a number the remains the most all-time to this day.
A two-time All-American (1982 and 1984), Raczka also received All-Region honors in 1983 and All-Conference honors in 1984.
In addition to his school record strikeouts, Raczka also continues to hold the record for most shutouts with seven and most complete games with 26 over his four-year career. He can also be found among the top-10 all-time in wins (t-5th, 29), appearances (8th, 58) and innings pitched (3rd, 325.0).
Raczka's name can also be seen throughout the single season record book, including second in strikeouts with 145 in 1984. He remains just one of four pitchers all-time to strike out more than 130 batters in a season. He can also be found in innings pitched (7th with 115.0 in 1984), complete games (t-4th with 10 in 1983 & 1984) and tied for third in shutouts with three in 1984.
Raczka, who was the 1984 UNH Male Athlete of the Year, was drafted in the fifth round by the Baltimore Orioles in 1984 and eventually became the ninth Charger to appear in a Major League game when he played for the Oakland A's in 1992.
