Pat Murphy was the second player to record over 200 hits for New Haven baseball, and his 209 career base-knocks rate fifth all-time (as of Jan. 2016) at the University.

The catcher hit .365 in four seasons with 15 runs and 142 runs batted in. Murphy played for three straight NCAA College World Series teams from 1977-79, earning an All-Tournament nod in 1979.

Also an All-New England honoree, Murphy went on to play professional baseball in Italy.
