One of the best pure hitters in New Haven baseball history, Roberto Giansiracusa was a starter on three NCAA College World Series teams for Head Coach Frank “Porky” Vieira.

The right-hander hit .382 in his four-year career from 1982-85 – never hitting below .356 in any one season. His career batting average stood among the top-10 in school history for 20 years.

Giansiracusa also possessed home run power, slugging 17 roundtrippers in a Charger uniform. He is among the all-time leaders at UNH in career hits (190, 9th) and doubles (34, t-9th), and his .415 batting average in 1984 is one of the best in single-season history.

New Haven reached the NCAA postseason in each of his four seasons, winning three NCAA Northeast Regional crowns to advance to the College World Series and earning at least one victory on the national stage in all three appearances. Overall during his tenure, the Chargers were 98-26.
