PHOTO GALLERYOne of the most prolific scorers in the history of the University of New Haven hockey program, Scott Brazis led the Chargers during some of the program's most successful seasons. The Saugus, Mass. native enjoyed a four-year career that included over 175 points.
Ranked third on the team in scoring, Brazis made an immediate impact his rookie season. He tallied 41 total points off 18 goals and 23 assists in 25 games played. He boasted five two-goal games and one hat-trick. Brazis' second season mirrored his freshman year as he totaled 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 total points. During his first two years, the Chargers enjoyed a record of 18-24 as part of the highly competitive ECAC East.
In the 1981-82 season, his numbers continued their upward trend. Brazis led the team with 45 total points off 20 goals and 25 assists. He scored a game-winner and recorded four multiple goal outings. The team battled Division I Princeton that season and played to a 5-5 draw in New Jersey on the way to a 12-12-1 record that season.
The team captain his senior year, Brazis concluded his tenure at New Haven with the best statistical season of his career. He tied a career-best with 20 goals and posted a career-high 28 assists for 48 points in the 1982-83 season. He finished the year ranked third in the ECAC East in scoring, while being named to the ECAC All-Star squad. Additionally, the center iceman collected All-New England Hockey Writers' Division II Team honors. That season he played a vital role in head coach Steve Lane's 100th victory on Dec. 9, 1982, while the team posted the program's first ever win over Elmira.
Brazis finished a stellar career ranked third all-time at New Haven in points with 177. He also ranked fourth in goals with 76 and third with 101 assists. He was the only Charger to earn ECAC All-Star honors and was named the Conference Player of the Week on three different occasions.
