Scott Khoury was one of the premier power hitters for New Haven baseball, still ranking among the program’s all-time leaders with 24 home runs (7th all-time), 129 runs batted in (7th all-time) and 43 doubles (7th all-time) in his career.
The outfielder also hit .324 for Head Coach Frank “Porky” Vieira from 1982-85 in a career that included four NCAA postseason berths and three trips to the College World Series. His 54 RBI in 1985 remain the fourth-most in UNH history (as of Jan. 2016), and his tape-measure home run at the College World Series that year is considered to be one of the longest hit by a collegiate player at Paterson Field in Montgomery, Ala.
Khoury signed a professional contract with the Baltimore Orioles in 1985 and registered over 1,400 professional at-bats with 64 home runs and 267 RBI in the Orioles’ and Cleveland Indians’ farm systems – rising as high as the Double-A level with both organizations.
