All-America honoree Scott Rahl compiled a .338 batting average with 100 runs batted in during a four-year career in which the New Haven baseball team posted a 104-22 record.

The catcher for Frank Vieira for three seasons and a first baseman for his final campaign, he hit .476 as a freshman for a fourth-place NAIA squad and, in 1972, helped guide the team to its first NCAA postseason appearance.

Rahl was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 23rd round of the 1972 MLB Draft and played 37 games in the New York Penn League the following fall.
