Team captain of the 1987 National Championship team, Sonja Beamon averaged 12.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game for that women’s basketball squad that hoisted the trophy.

Beamon also earned All-New England Collegiate Conference honors that season to cap a career in which she posted 1,208 points and 901 rebounds.

She guided the Chargers to 78 wins and a .667 winning percentage during her career at UNH and currently (Jan. 2016) ranks 15th all-time in scoring and fifth in rebounding.
