Lieberman, McDermott Earn NE-10 Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – After leading the University of New Haven women's lacrosse team to a pair of victories last week, student-athletes Natalie Lieberman (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) and Marissa McDermott (Longmeadow, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson Academy) were named the Northeast-10 Conference Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectviely. The weekly accolades are the first of the season for the 4-4 Chargers.

Lieberman helped lead the No. 14 Chargers with 12 total points off eight goals and four assists. She also grabbed six draw controls, four ground balls and had three caused turnovers in the two wins. She enjoyed her best game of the week against No. 8 Bentley with five goals, three assists, six draw controls and four ground balls.

McDermott posted a .667 save percentage and a 2.78 goals-against average in a 2-0 week. She recorded five saves in her first collegiate victory against Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday and followed it up with another five saves in a win against No. 8 Bentley on Saturday afternoon.

Liebermand and McDermott lead New Haven back into action on Wednesday, April 3 when it hosts nationally ranked Le Moyne at Kayo Field. Game time against the Dolphins is set for 4 p.m.
