Back in Jersey Track Takes Care of Business

EWING, New Jersey – Back in New Jersey the University of New Haven Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams returned to the Garden State this week to compete at the TCNJ Invitational Meet. After competing against elements a week ago, the teams had much better weather to compete in, and they made the most of that.

After not competing a week ago, Jordanny Dely returned to the track and returned to his season form in the event. Dely in the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles ran the second-fastest time of prelims running 14.43. In the finals of the event, Dely found another gear shaving .10 seconds off his time of prelims, running 14.33 in the finals finishing him with the second fastest time of the finals. Dely followed up his second-place finish with a third-place finish in the 400m crossing with a time of 56.51 taking his second and third-place finishes.

Dathan Chann (Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King) finished second overall in the 3000m Steeple finishing with a final time of 10:46.40.

Jonathan Cineus (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) took home the Charger's first win of the meet claiming the triple-jump crown. Cineus need only two jumps to win the event. After an opening jump of 13.73m, Cineus found his stride and jumped 13.99m. That jump moved Cineus into first for the event, allowing him to watch the competition and see where their jumps would be. Cineus would jump a third mark of 13.96m but nobody would beat his mark of 13.99m winning Cineus the event and bringing home the Charger's first win of the meet.

Blake Jandreau (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall) finished fourth overall in the 400m dash crossing with a final time of 50.045 which was set as 50.05 finishing with the fourth-best time.

Gabrielle Teel (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) finished fourth overall in the triple with a fourth-best jump of 10.85m. Teel opened up with a jump of 10.47m and gradually jumped better each mark before finding her best jump on her final jump. Down to her final jump, Teel moved up the leader board with a jump of 10.85m finishing her fourth overall for the meet.

The men's 4x100m relay team of () finished fourth overall with a final time of 43.10.

The Chargers return to the track next week closer to home as they will stay in the Nutmeg state and travel to New London to compete at the Silfen Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 14,15. With the conference championship on the horizon, New Haven looks to build the momentum from this meet into the next and into the championships. All updates, schedules, and post-game recaps for the team will be available at Newhavenchargers.com.
