Harrison, N.Y. -- Junior James Beaubrun was named the East Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week on Monday, the league announced on Monday. Tom Hope and Melissa Tempesta earned the ECC Rookie of the Week awards. Beaubrun was the top collegiate finisher and placed second overall behind a non-collegiate runner, to lead the Chargers at Fordham's Ram Invitational on Saturday, September 16 in Van Cortlandt Park. James helped UNH finish in a tie for third place in the team competition, completing the 8K course in a time of 27:31.
Hope was UNH's third runner and placed 13th overall in a 59-runner field on Saturday at Fordham's Ram Invitational at Van Cordtlandt Park. Hope covered the 8K layout in a time of 28:43.
For the second week in a row, Tempesta led the UNH women's team, as she finished ninth overall out of 67 competitors at Fordham's Ram Invitational on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park. She covered the 5K course in a time of 20:13, and was the top Division II finisher in the race. The top eight competitors all came from Division I schools Sacred Heart, Stony Brook and St. John's.
This was Tempesta's second straight ECC Rookie of the Week award to start the season and her collegiate career.
