Kyle Wasilkowski currently serves as the Senior Assistant Director of Recreation at the University of New Haven through CENTERS, where he brings a proven track record of revitalizing campus recreation programs and advancing student engagement. In this role, Kyle provides strategic oversight for facility operations, student programming, staff development, and recreational services—ensuring inclusive, innovative, and high-quality experiences for the Charger community.
Prior to joining the University of New Haven, Kyle was part of the Senior Leadership team for the Athletics & Recreation Department as the Director of Recreation & Club Sports at the University of Hartford, where he built the department from the ground up after being named the institution’s first Director of Recreation in 2022 and later elevated to Director of Recreation & Club Sports in 2024. Over the span of three years, he led transformational growth, including an 82% increase in intramural participation, launched the department’s first social media presence and logo branding of "UHart Rec", engaging nearly 2,000 followers and strengthening visibility across campus, and the implementation of leagues/tournaments having over 1,000+ student participants annually. His efforts contributed directly to the institution’s high retention rate, positioning campus recreation as one of the key drivers of student success and belonging.
Kyle spearheaded the integration of Club Sports into the department, creating a tiered model, formal governance structure, and a Club Sports Council that supported 12 student organizations and over 300 participants.
In his leadership role at Hartford, Kyle was responsible for scheduling all indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, including club sports, esports, and informal use, while working closely with campus partners to optimize space and promote equitable access. He supervised professional staff and over 100 student workers, created a comprehensive training program and handbook, and led facility operations efforts focused on safety, efficiency, and student development.
He also served as Co-Chair of the Student Experience Committee, contributed to strategic campus initiatives, including the Student Conduct Policy Review Committee, and was a member of several high-level university search committees. In recognition of his impact, he received the 2025 Outstanding Staff Member Award, honoring his dedication and service to students, staff, and the broader university community.
Kyle’s earlier career includes roles such as Director of Sports & Recreation at the Lewisburg YMCA at the Miller Center—where he generated over $500,000 in revenue through partnerships with Bucknell University, youth organizations, and national governing bodies like USA Field Hockey and USA Gymnastics—as well as leadership experience in adult recreation leagues, non-profit organizations, and interscholastic athletics.
He holds a B.S. in Sports Management with a Minor in Athletic Administration from York College of Pennsylvania and an M.S. in Sports Management with a concentration in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration from California University of Pennsylvania. He is a Certified Athletic Administrator (RAA) through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).
