(10-10-09) NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The University of New Haven women's soccer team tied Merrimack 0-0 Saturday afternoon in North Andover, Mass. With the tie the Chargers now stand at 6-6-3 overall, 3-6-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while Warriors now stand at 9-3-2 overall, 6-4-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
The Chargers and the Warriors were both held scoreless through the full 120 minutes of the game. Merrimack held a slight 13-11 advantage in shots, and also led 8-5 in corner kick attempts. The Chargers registered one shot in the first half by freshman
Lucy Francisco in the 44th minute. In the second half, UNH tallied seven shots, including two shots a piece from
Alexa DellaRocco and
Meabh De Burca. In the two overtime periods, UNH registered three shots, but was unable to find the back of the net.
For the game, Francisco led the Chargers with four shots. DellaRocco and De Burca each tallied two shots a piece, while
Claire Siekaniec,
Kaila Sheehan, and
Lauren Primovic each recorded one shot.
For New Haven, goalie
Kim Taylor tallied five saves, while Merrimack goalie Brittany Gustafson also tallied five saves.
The Chargers return to action on Wednesday, October 14 when they host Pace University. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Kayo Field.
