(11-01-09) ALBANY, N.Y. - The University of New Haven women's soccer team fell 1-0 Sunday afternoon in the opening round of the 2009 Northeast-10 Conference Championship to nationally ranked No. 2 the College of St. Rose. With the loss the Chargers conclude their 2009 campaign with a 10-7-3 record, while advancing to the program's sixth-straight postseason.

The game's only goal came in the 20th minute when the Golden Knights scored from 8-yards out. That would be all the second ranked team in the country would need Sunday as they stayed perfect at 19-0 this season.

The Chargers did play the Golden Knight rather even statistically. New Haven tallied 11 shots, just one fewer than St. Rose. The Golden Knights also led 9-8 in shots on goal.

Holly Dawson led the UNH offense with three shots on goal, while Alexa DellaRocco added two. Lucy Francisco, Meabh De Burca and Ali Espanol each tallied one shot on goal as well. Between the posts, Kim Taylor made eight saves for the Chargers.

The Golden Knights advance to take on Merrimack in the NE-10 semifinals on Thursday, November 5.
