Men's Basketball Loses 85-61 at Pace

(12-05-09) PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - The University of New Haven men's basketball team fell 85-61 Saturday afternoon at Pace University. With the loss the Chargers fall to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Setters improve to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the NE-10.

The Setters scored the first two points of the game and continued to improve their lead as the game unfolded. UNH kept the Setters within single digits for the first 10 minutes of the opening half, but Pace put together a 12-2 run to take a 12-point lead with 7:08 remaining. Cassius Chaney helped cut the Setters' lead to eight in the final two minutes of the half, but Pace held a 38-27 halftime lead.

Pace would improve upon its lead in the second half. The Setters led by as many as 24 points nearly 15 minutes into the second half. Senior Darryl Greene connected on four free throws in the final five minutes to help cut the Setters lead to 15. Pace, however, scored the final nine points to take the 85-61 victory.

UNH shot 37.3 percent from the floor, while the Setters connected on an amazing 56.6 percent of their shots. Pace held a 35-32 rebounding advantage and a 23-6 advantage in points off turnovers.

Chaney led the Chargers with 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting. The senior grabbed nine rebounds and two steals, but turned the ball over six times. Greene added 12 points, while Robert Jamerson led the team with 10 rebounds.
