(09-25-09) WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven's football team takes on Stonehill College Saturday afternoon for Homecoming 2009. The Chargers will officially dedicate Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium prior to the game in a ceremony at midfield.
Scouting the Chargers
The Chargers’ offense is led by quarterback Ryan Osiecki. Osiecki currently leads the Northeast-10 Conference in passing yards per game with 286.3 per contest. He’s completed 78-of-126 passes with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Sharieff Hall leads all UNH receivers with 29 catches for 343 yards and two touchdowns. He currently leads the conference in receptions per game and is second in receiving yards per game. Mike Gomes leads the UNH defense with 27 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, three pass break-ups and one interception.
Scouting the Skyhawks
The Skyhawks come into today’s game also looking for their first conference win of the season. Offensively they are led by quarterback Tim Morrison and running back Eddie Vachon. Morrison is averaging 159 yards per game with six touchdowns and three interceptions. Vachon adds 93.8 yards per game and four touchdowns on the ground. He ran for nearly 200 yards (192) in the Skyhawks win over Wagner College. Defensively, Stonehill is anchored by middle linebackers, Nick Vardaro and Greg Sanzari. They both have 40 total tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss and one sack this season. Vardaro adds one pass break-up and one quarterback hurry.
