(09-26-09) MANCHESTER, N.H. -- The University of New Haven women's soccer team tied Southern New Hampshire, 0-0 in double overtime, on Saturday in New Hampshire. The Chargers held a 6-1 shooting advantage in overtime and 15-10 on the afternoon.
Through 110 full minutes, the Chargers and Penmen held each other scoreless. UNH led 15-10 in the shots category, while also leading 7-2 in corner kick attempts.
The Chargers registered one scoring opportunities in the opening half, the first overtime and the second overtime, including a shot on goal by Holly Dawson in the 109th minute. Emily Buckley-Matura attempted a shot in the 94th minute, while the lone first-half attempt came in the 30th minute by Claire Siekaniec.
UNH tallied three second half opportunities as well. Marta Bertsos riffled a shot in the 74th minute which required a SNHU save. Lucy Francisco added one in the 75th minute and Dawson added on in the 82nd minute.
Dawson and Francisco each totaled four shots, while Bertsos, Buckley-Matura and Siekaniec each grabbed two shots.
Between the posts for New Haven, Kim Taylor recorded her sixth shutout of the season in all 110 minutes.
The Chargers return to action on Wednesday, September 30 when they travel to Dowling College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
