(09-04-09) WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven's football team begins its quest in the Northeast-10 Conference against Assumption College on Friday night in Worcester, Mass. Game time at Multi-Sport Stadium in Worcester is set for 7 p.m.
Scouting the Chargers
The Chargers are coming off a 33-10 victory over Lincoln University (Pa.), their first game since 2003. Quarterback Ryan Osiecki led the team with almost 250 yards passing and one touchdown. Sharieff Hall led the UNH receiving corps with eight catches for 119 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown pass from Osiecki. The Chargers' rushing attack is let by the duo of Andrew Nass and Victor Jones, who combined for 148 yards and three touchdowns last week. Look for the Chargers to expand upon their offensive sets this week, which included three, four and five wide receiver sets last week.
Scouting the Greyhounds
The Greyhounds are coming off a 51-16 victory over Worcester State (D-III) last week. They fell 31-28 earlier in the season to Millersville (Pa.) and come into this week seeking their second victory. The Greyhound offense is averaging 375 yards per game this season (208.5 passing, 166.5 rushing). Herb Woodard leads the Greyhound defense with 119 yards per game, while they have two quarterbacks who have both seen significant playing time in the first two games, Andrew Kupec and Josh Ratacik. Kupec will get the start this week, he averages over 115 yards per game.
