WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's soccer team defeated visiting Pace, 2-1, this afternoon on Senior Day at Kayo Field. Senior Nicole Pacapelli (West Haven, Conn./West Haven / Stonehill College) and freshman Sierra Stein (Sherman, Conn./Immaculate) netted goals in the victory.

The Chargers move to 9-3-3 overall and 7-3-2 in the Northeast-10 with the win and complete an undefeated regular season at home with a 6-0-2 mark. The Setters fall to 2-12-1 overall and 2-8-1 in conference play.

New Haven started the scoring with their quickest goal of the season as Pacapelli headed home a corner kick launched by Amanda Hathaway (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater) just 1:21 into the match. The goal was Pacapelli's third of the season and Hathaway collected her fourth assist of the fall.

The Chargers built a 2-0 lead in the 35th minute when Stein found the back of the net for the first time in her collegiate career. The marker was set up by Pacapelli, who sent in a 25-yard free kick to record her third assist of 2013.

The Setters got on the board in the 77th minute as Fabiana Rebecca converted a rebound off of a  Natasha Purchla (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) save to cut the margin to 2-1. Pace would get no closer, and the one-goal lead stood up as final for the Chargers.

Purchla stopped three shots en route to her seventh win of the season.

The Chargers will finish off the regular season with back-to-back road matches. New Haven visits nationally-ranked Saint Rose on Wednesday, Oct. 30 before trekking to Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, Nov. 2.
