Anderson Double-Double Leads Chargers to 74-52 Win at AIC

BOX SCORE SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Junior forward Eric Anderson (Newark, N.J./Newark Tech) scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help bring the University of New Haven to a 74-52 victory at American International College Tuesday night. The double-double was Anderson's fourth in five games this season.

New Haven improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference with the win. The Yellow Jackets dropped to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Jemal Mosley (Spring Valley, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep / Putnam Science Academy) and Ashanti DePass (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) each chipped in with nine points, while DePass also handed out four assists. Jeffery Adkins (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) scored eight and dished out five assists. Justin Exum (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) rounded out the top scorers with eight points and a game-high seven assists.

UNH shot 55.1 percent from the floor and held AIC to 35.1 percent from the field. The Chargers connected on 53.3 percent from three-point territory and 92.3 percent from the charity stripe. New Haven also held a 34-25 advantage on the glass.

The Chargers scored the first basket in the game and never looked back. DePass netted the first of three, three-pointers on the opening possession and New Haven jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Cyrus James (Manchester, Conn./Howell Cheney Tech) and Anderson both added points as the Chargers held an early 8-0 lead. Anderson improved the UNH lead to double figures at the 10:05 mark as the Chargers took a 22-12 advantage. New Haven took its largest lead of the half just 5:20 later when Anderson scored his 12th point of the first half.

New Haven maintained its double digit lead throughout the entire second half as well. The teams exchanged points for the first 10 minutes with the Chargers holding a 54-40 lead with 8:00 on the clock. Mosley and Anderson scored five straight to improve the UNH lead to 19 one minute later. New Haven's largest lead of the game came with 32 seconds left in the second half when Mosley scored his ninth point of the game and the Chargers' final points of the 22-point victory.

New Haven travels to Bloomfield for its third non-conference game of the season on Saturday, Nov 30. Game time in New Jersey is set for 2 p.m. One week later, the Chargers return to action against Adelphi in another Northeast-10 Conference battle at Charger Gymnasium.
