Early Goal Sends Chargers to 1-0 Defeat at Molloy

BOX SCORE

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – A goal just 3:22 into the match was the only scoring as the University of New Haven men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Molloy on Friday afternoon.

The Chargers drop to 0-3-1 with the loss, while Molloy records its first victory of the season to improve to 1-2-0.

James Pyatsky (Stewart Manor, N.Y./Garden City) made five saves for the Chargers to keep the contest in reach, but the New Haven offense was unable to put a shot on goal against Molloy keeper Mario Gagliano. UNH was outshot, 13-8, overall.

The lone marker of the afternoon came off the foot of Lester Franco, who received a back-heel pass from Dan Brown to convert the fourth-minute goal.

New Haven returns to the pitch on Tuesday when it opens the Northeast-10 Conference schedule on Kayo Field with a 4 p.m. visit from Saint Rose. The match will be broadcast live in high definition and available on most mobile devices free of charge on NewHavenChargers.com.
