WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team was unable to find the back of the net in a 4-0 defeat to reigning Northeast-10 Champion Southern New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon on Kayo Field.

With the loss, the Chargers fall to 0-5-1 overall, and 0-2-0 in conference play. The victorious Penmen are now 4-1-0 on the season and improve to 2-0-0 in the NE-10 following their third-straight shutout win.

The Chargers were out-shot by SNHU, 16-1, with a one-time blast from Oscar Johanneson serving as New Haven's only attempt on goal.

James Pyatsky (Stewart Manor, N.Y./Garden City) and Jason Smith (Gales Ferry, Conn./Ledyard) split goalkeeping duties, each making three saves in one half of work.

Dom DiMaggio made one save over the first 75:08 and Myles Groenloh did not face a shot in the final 14:52 to complete the clean sheet for the visitors.

Kenny Doublette netted the first goal of the contest for the Penmen in the seventh minute on an unassisted goal, which resulted from a scramble following a corner kick. The Penmen took advantage of another corner kick in the 43nd minute. The try was fired by Jonathan Lupinelli, who connected with Callum Williams for the second goal of the contest.

Very similar to the first half, the Penmen struck quickly in the second half as Kenny Doublette fired a shot from the top of the box to hit the back of the net to stake the visitors to a 3-0 advantage in the 47th minute. Ryan Simpson netted the fourth and final goal off another Lupinelli corner kick in the 78th minute.

New Haven returns to action on Saturday, September 28th for a 1 p.m. contest at Saint Anselm. The Chargers are back on Kayo Field on Wednesday, Oct. 2 for a 4 p.m. meeting with American International.
