The University of New Haven men's basketball team takes a break from Northeast-10 Conference play when it hosts Post University on Tuesday night.
Last Time Out
The University of New Haven men's basketball team shot 56.5 percent from the field in the second half and Eric Anderson (Newark, N.J./Newark Tech) became the fourth player in program history to achieve 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds as the Chargers upended the Adelphi Panthers 71-56 on Saturday afternoon. Anderson totaled 12 points and 12 rebounds for the afternoon.

With its third straight win, New Haven is now 4-2 on the season, 2-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Tommy Hunt (Smithfield, R.I./St. Andrew's) led the way for New Haven with 14 points. Samir McDaniels (Roxbury, Mass./New Mission) added 13 and Jemal Mosley (Spring Valley, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep / Putnam Science Academy) chipped in with 11.

An evenly matched first half saw the two teams battle with neither holding more than a four-point lead. With the Panthers leading 20-17, the Chargers took the lead on back to back jumpers by Anderson, putting UNH up 21-20 and propelling the Blue and Gold to a 31-28 halftime lead. For the frame, New Haven outshot Adelphi 43.5 percent to 37.5percent.

The second half saw more of the close game as the Chargers held a slim 39-37 at the 14:34 mark before embarking on a 15-4 run to go up 54-41 with 6:48 to go.
Scouting Report
The Eagles come into play with a record of 3-4 including a 1-2 mark in the CACC. Post is led by freshman guard Matt Moreno who is the only player on the Eagles averaging double-figure scoring at 15.4 points per game. The 6-5 native of San Francisco, Calif. has scored 10+ points in six of seven contests this season.Â
Coming in behind Moreno are fellow freshmen Travis Flagg and Joseph Lockwood at 9.9 and 9.1 points per game respectively. Lockwood is one of only two players on Post to have started all seven games thusfar. When adding in Tyler Desrosiers 8.6 tallies a night, the top four scorers on the Eagles are all freshmen.Â
Al Sokaitis is in his fifth season with the Eagles and has a record of 59-58 during his tenure in Waterbury. Sokaitis has an extensive resume with more than 300 wins and more than 20 years experience as a head coach.

This is the 13th meeting between New Haven and Post with the Chargers holding a 9-3 lead, but the Eagles have won two games in a row.Â

Night of Warmth
Fans are encouraged to bring an item of warmth (winter hats, socks, gloves, scarves, sweaters, etc) to help the less fortunate. At halftime, fans can throw their items onto the court. Sigma Chi will take the items on their "Midnight Run" to the greater New Haven community.
Haven't Seen You In A While
Despite just a 25 mile drive up Route 8 separating the schools, this is the first time since the 2008-09 season that Post and New Haven have squared off.Â

Senior Eric Anderson continues to lead NCAA Division II with 14.6 rebounds a game (through games on December 4). Next on the list is Garret Kerr from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia who is pulling in 12.9 boards a contest. The East Region rounds out the top three in national rebounding averages as Michael Balkovic of Caldwell is grabbing 12.8 caroms a game.Â
Out of Conference Experience
The Chargers have done well under head coach Ted Hotaling in non-conference, regular season games. Since the start of the 2010-11 season, New Haven is 16-4 in non-conference contests.Â

After squaring off against the Eagles, New Haven has eight days off before its next contest when it travels to Albany, N.Y. to take on Saint Rose. Following that contest ,the Chargers play four in a row at home, hosting Bloomfield, Bentley, Saint Anselm and Southern Connecticut State to close out 2014 and ring in 2015.Â
