MANCHESTER, N.H. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team traveled to Manchester, N.H. to meet the nation's top-ranked team and defending NCAA Champion Southern New Hampshire on Saturday night. Led by the three second-half goals, the host Penmen came away with a 4-0 result.

With the loss, the Chargers drop to 1-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the NE-10. Southern New Hampshire improves to 5-0-0 on the season with a 2-0-0 conference mark, running its unbeaten streak to 28 matches.

New Haven kept the high-powered Penmen off the board into the 23rd minute, when Kenny Doublette scored the first of his two goals on the day, assisted by Sofiane Tergou.

The 1-0 mark held into the intermission, but Southern New Hampshire struck twice in an eight-minute span to break the match open. Jose Seoane netted his sixth goal of the fall in the 53rd minute, and Tergou added a marker in the 60th. Doublette's second goal came in the 72nd minute to round out the eventual 4-0 final.

Marc Scelsa (Islip, N.Y./Islip) went the distance in goal and made three saves for New Haven. Dom DiMaggio made four stops in his 77:54 of work for the Penmen, and Andrew Pesci did not face a shot on goal in the final 12:06 of the clean sheet.

The Chargers return to Kayo Field and take a break from NE-10 play this Tuesday, Sept. 23 with a 4 p.m. visit from St. Thomas Aquinas. The Spartans are 1-2-2 this fall following a 3-2 loss at LIU Post earlier today.
