Today's Matchup
The Chargers look for their fourth Northeast-10 Conference Championship since joining the league in 2009. New Haven closed out the regular season winners of the last four games, outscoring those teams 169-54. After an NE-10 opening loss to LIU Post, the Greyhounds rattled off wins in the final nine conference games to earn their first ever NE-10 Regular Season Championship.

All-Time Series
New Haven and Assumption meet for the 10th time in the history of the two programs, which dates back to the Chargers first year in the NE-10, 2009. With a home win earlier this season, the Greyhounds hold a 5-4 record in the previous nine meetings. This is the third-straight year UNH and Assumption will meet in the postseason, having split the first two meetings. Including this season, New Haven and Assumption will have met twice in three-straight years, with the Chargers sweeping in 2013 and Assumption sweeping in 2014.

Scouting the New Haven Chargers
The Chargers look to lock up their fourth Northeast-10 title in program history on Saturday and remain unbeaten in NE-10 Championship game appearances since the title game was instituted in 2012.  For the season, New Haven's offense is led by juniors Andre Anderson (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) and Ajee Patterson (Neptune, N.J./Neptune). Anderson, a running back, has run for 1,075 yards in 10 games, averaging 7.62 yards-per-carry which is currently fourth best in the nation. Included in Anderson's 141 attempts on the ground are 13 touchdowns, which gives him 25, fourth most in school history. Patterson, who emerged as the starting QB prior to week three, has completed 60-percent of his passes for a total of 2,003 yards, including a career-high 307 at Assumption. He has also thrown 12 touchdown passes, including a career-best four against LIU Post in week eight. Defensively, the Chargers are led by senior inside linebacker Tyler Condit (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) who has finished with double figure tackles in all but one game. Condit enters the championship game after dropping 25 tackles in the regular season finale against Saint Anselm. He is currently fourth in the nation in total tackles, averaging 15.3 per game.

Scouting the Assumption Greyhounds
Assumption has rebounded from a conference-opening loss to LIU Post by rattling of eight-straight wins and winning its first Northeast-10 Regular Season Championship. The Greyhounds 9-1 overall record also has them ranked 23rd in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches' Poll. Under center, the Greyhounds rely on sophomore Brendan Tobey who has completed 60% of his passes (144-of-242) for 1,612 yards. He has also thrown 13 touchdown passes. Among his leading targets is rookie wide receiver Deonte Harris who has 55 catches for 521 yards and a team-best eight touchdowns, fourth most in the NE-10. Sophomore Ashton Grant leads the team in receiving yards with 674 on 53 catches and six touchdowns. On the ground, junior Alex Shain has run for 888 yards on 153 carries. He has also run for 13 of 25 rushing touchdowns, with his 13 scores tied with Andre Anderson (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) for the most in the conference. Senior James Ward is just shy of Shain with 793 yards and five touchdowns. Junior strong safety Jarrod Casey leads the Greyhounds with 102 tackles, one of three players in the NE-10 with 100 or more stops. Included are 11 tackles for loss and two sacks.

Last Time They Met
A Hail Mary attempt in the end zone as time expired went incomplete for New Haven as it dropped a 17-23 decision on the road at Assumption last Friday. Junior quarterback Ajee Patterson (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) finished his fourth start of the season with a career-high 307 yards and a 28-yard touchdown pass to junior Henry Adegunle (Rockaway, N.Y./Channel View). That touchdown was part of 56 yards on four receptions for Adegunle, who finished two yards shy of DeeJay White (Brooklyn, N.Y./Sheepshead Bay / Bowling Green State University) who compiled 58 yards on six receptions. On the ground, New Haven was led by graduate running back Trevor Officer (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) who finished with 96 yards on 22 carries, including an eight yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Defensively, New Haven was led by Matt Zakrzewski (Traverse City, Mich./Saint Francis / Indiana) and Tyler Condit (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) who finished with 12 and 11 tackles, respectively. Condit's 11 tackles are his third-straight game and fifth for the season with double figure stops.

Postseason versus Assumption
UNH and Assumption meet for the third-straight season following the final week of the regular season, splitting the previous two match ups. In 2013, New Haven posted a 27-17 win over the Greyhounds in the third place game which took place at DellaCamera Stadium. The Chargers scored the final 17 points of the game to erase a 17-10 deficit for the victory. In 2014, Assumption played host for the consolation game, scoring a 16-7 decision at Multi-Sport Stadium. After opening the scoring in the first quarter, the Chargers were held scoreless for the final 50 minutes with Assumption scoring 16 unanswered points.

National Numbers
Senior linebacker Tyler Condit (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) and junior running back Andre Anderson (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) can be found all over the national statistics, including in the top-10 in a few categories. Anderson enters the championship game fourth in the nation in yards per carry with 7.62. He is also eighth in the nation with one kickoff return touchdown and is just outside the top-10 in all purpose yards with 165.90 good for 11th. Anderson's 319 yard performance in the regular season finale at Saint Anselm ranks as the third most in a single game this season in Division II. Condit enters week 11 fourth in Division II with 153 total tackles, for an average of 15.3 per-game. Among his 128 total tackles are 13.5 for loss, which is 55th most in the nation. Included in his 128 total tackles was a career-high 25, which also set a Northeast-10 single game record and was two shy of the Chargers' school record for a single game. His 25 tackles, which he also did against Saint Anselm, is also the third most in a single game this season in Division II.

Among the Best
Junior Andre Anderson (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse)'s 319 rushing yards against Saint Anselm not only set a single game school record, but pushed him over 1,000 yards for the season, just the sixth time in program history a Charger has run for 1,000 or more yards. He also jumped a spot in the top-10 in school history for career rushing yards, now with 1,806. He needs just 55 more to jump both Victory Jones (1,860) and Bill Gambardella (1,840) and take over seventh all-time.  In addition to his rushing yardage, Anderson's 13 rushing touchdowns in 2015 give him 25 for his career, fourth most in school history. Finally, Anderson is one of only three players in Division II who have a rush and reception of 70 or more yards this season. Both of those plays for Anderson came in the season opener against Slippery Rock.

With a victory today, New Haven will await the NCAA committee's release of the Division II Championship Bracket to see if they will advance to the NCAA Championship. The selection is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and can be found at NCAA.com/liveschedule.
