WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Three-time Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year Eric Anderson landed his first professional opportunity when he was recently signed by the Gladiators Trier of Germany's Basketball Bundesliga ProA League. Anderson will join three other Americans on the Gladiators roster as the team opens its 25th season in October.
The Newark, N.J. native closed out his collegiate career in 2015 earning Daktronics All-America Third Team honors and Daktronics All-East Region First Team accolades. In addition, Anderson is a three-time Northeast 10 Defensive Player of the Year and twice earned All-Northeast 10 First Team distinction, the only player in program history to earn first-team honors.
As a senior, Anderson averaged an NCAA Division II best 13.1 rebounds per game and recorded the first triple-double in Chargers men's basketball history with 26 points, 28 rebounds and 10 assists against Saint Anselm. He also ranked 15th the conference in scoring with 16.7 points per game.
During his career at New Haven, Anderson helped lead the chargers to a pair of NCAA Tournament berths. Overall, the forward/center closed out this career as the program's all-time leader in blocks with 238 total, while he is second all-time in rebounding (1,271 career rebounds, 11.1 per game) and 12th in scoring (1,551 career points, 13.6 per game).
