WEST HAVEN, Conn. –
The University of New Haven football team scored 31 answered points to secure its second-straight victory and remain undefeated in the Northeast-10 Conference with a 31-12 victory over the American International Yellow Jackets on Family and Football Alumni Day at DellaCamera Stadium.

Junior quarterback Ajee Patterson (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) took every snap under center in his first collegiate start, finishing with 236 yards and a touchdown in the air as well as a pair of rushing touchdowns and 54 total yards on the run. Patterson would put the first Chargers points on the board early in the second quarter when he closed out a 12 play, 75 yard drive with a one-yard quarterback keep, giving New Haven a 7-5 lead, one they would never relinquish.

Patterson's primary targets in the air came by way of Rishawn Harris (Springfield, Mass./Putnam Vocational Technical Academy), DeeJay White (Brooklyn, N.Y./Sheepshead Bay / Bowling Green State University) and Andre Anderson (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) who all pulled in four catches with Harris taking the trophy for the longest reception of the day, a 39-yard pass in tough coverage. Junior Henry Adegunle (Rockaway, N.Y./Channel View) was a target for Patterson on just one occasion but he made it count, collecting his first touchdown of the season on a 13-yard catch on the Chargers opening drive of the second half, giving the home team a 17-5 advantage.

Anderson also found the end zone with his third touchdown of the season on an 11-yard run which was set up thanks to a pick from senior linebacker Tyler Condit (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) that he turned into a 22-yard return. That scoring drive for the Chargers took just 11 seconds. In addition to the interception, Condit finished the game with 13 tackles, including four solo stops, to lead the Chargers defensive, his third game of the season with double figure tackles.

The final score of the day for New Haven came as the second quarterback keep for Patterson as he completed an 80-yard drive with a three-yard run that resulted in a 31-5 lead in favor of the Blue and Gold. As a team, the Chargers finished the game with 440 yards of total offense, the third game of the season with 400-plus total yards. Defensively, American International was held to just 283 yards, including a minimal 102 yards on the run.
