WEST HAVEN, CONN. – The University of New Haven football team (4-4, 4-3 NE-10) dropped its second straight Northeast-10 game on Saturday afternoon, falling to the visiting Assumption Greyhounds 38-24. Leading the Chargers was senior running back Andre Anderson (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) who finished with 133 rushing yards and 64 receiving yards, while scoring a touchdown both on the ground and in the air.
Anderson is just the second player this season to score a rushing and receiving touchdown in the same game as he scored from one-yard out in the first quarter and connected with Patterson for a 35-yard touchdown catch in the third. Anderson also added 90 yards on three kick returns, finishing with 287 total yards.
Quarterback Ajee Patterson (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) finished his sixth straight game with 200 or more passing yards as he completed 20 of his 46 pass attempts for 213 passing yards. He also threw a pair of touchdowns with an eight-yard pass to Ty Headen (Newark, N.J./American History) joining Anderson's 35-yard catch for a score. Headen was one of six total targets used by Patterson as he closed out the game with eight catches for 94 yards.
Defensively, New Haven was led by Tyler Condit (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) and Nigel Davis (Williamsville, N.Y./Saint Joseph's Collegiate Institute) who finished with 12 and 11 tackles, respectively. The 11 tackles for Davis is a career-high, as eight of those came as solo stops. Dean Tsopanides (Orange, Conn./Torrington / Iowa) also had an impressive day on the defensive end as he recovered a fumble, while adding nine total tackles.

STATISTICAL LEADERS
· Senior running back Andre Anderson (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse), the Charger Nation Player of the Game, led New Haven with 133 rushing yards and 64 receiving yards, while scoring a rushing and receiving touchdown. He also added 90 yards on three kick returns. Anderson is the second player this season to finish with a rushing and receiving touchdown in the same game.
· Junior kicker Danny Stock (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge / Buffalo State) improved to a perfect 9-of-9 in field goal attempts, sending a 30-yard attempt straight through the middle in the fourth quarter.
· Quarterback Ajee Patterson (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) closed out his sixth straight game with 200 or more yards completing 20 of the 46 passes he threw for 213 yards.
· Overall, Patterson relied on five different targets with Ty Headen (Newark, N.J./American History) leading the team with eight hauls for 94 total yards. Anderson's 64 yards was second most among the receivers, which came on six catches, including a 35-yard pass from Patterson that was Anderson's second touchdown of the day and the Army ROTC Play of the Game.
· Defensively, senior Tyler Condit (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) led New Haven with 12 tackles, his third game of the season in double figures. Joining him with double digit tackles was junior Nigel Davis (Williamsville, N.Y./Saint Joseph's Collegiate Institute) who finished with 11 stops, including eight solo tackles.
HIGHLIGHTS
· On the Greyhounds second drive of the game, New Haven's defense came up with a big play as Dean Tsopanides (Orange, Conn./Torrington / Iowa) recovered an Assumption fumble, setting the Chargers up on the Greyhounds 36 yard line. New Haven capitalized, scoring the first touchdown of the game off that turnover with Andre Anderson (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) capping off a nine-play drive with a one-yard TD run. Overall, Anderson ran for 30 yards on the drive.
· The Chargers second TD of the game came with under 30 second remaining in the half when Ajee Patterson (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) connected with Ty Headen (Newark, N.J./American History) to cap off a 74 yard drive. Earlier in the drive, Headen and Patterson connected for the longest pass of the day, a 36-yard haul.
· Anderson would again find the scoreboard late in the third quarter when he and Patterson connected for the Army ROTC Play of the game, a 35-yard catch as Anderson broke through up the right side, completing a two-play scoring drive.
· The Chargers would make it two straight scoring drives when Danny Stock (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge / Buffalo State) capped off a 12-play, 47 yard drive with a 30-yard field goal his ninth of the season in as many attempts.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
· Tyler Condit (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell)'s 12 tackles put him closer to setting a pair of records on the season, the first of which is the Northeast-10 all-time tackles record which he is now two-tackles shy of breaking. The 12 tackles against Assumption gives him 413 over his career, with the all-time program record at New Haven now just 10 tackles away.
· With his 213 yards against Assumption, Ajee Patterson (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) now stands 69 yards shy of joining the all-time passing leaders as he now has 4,148 career passing yards. However, the two touchdown passes for Patterson knocks him into the top-10 all-time as he now stands ninth overall with 30 career touchdown passes.
· Senior wide receiver Ty Headen (Newark, N.J./American History) jumped a pair of positions on the career receiving yards list with his 94 against the Greyhounds. He now stands in fifth all-time with 2,235 career yards. He also moved into a tie for sixth all-time, now with 30 career receiving touchdowns.
· Danny Stock (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge / Buffalo State)'s 30-yard field goal against Assumption gives him 16 total for his career, which moves him into sole possession of fourth place all-time.

The Chargers will travel away from their West Haven campus for the final time in the regular season next weekend when they head north on Interstate 91 to meet the American International Yellow Jackets. New Haven and AIC are scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. kick off at Ronald J. Abdow Field in Springfield, Mass.
