ALBANY, N.Y. – Michael Bourke (South Orange, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) scored a game-high 16 points, but a second half comeback by the New Haven men's basketball team came up short as the Chargers fell to the Saint Rose Golden Knights 72-60 in a Northeast-10 Conference game on Saturday afternoon. New Haven is now 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in the NE-10.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Â Â Â Â Â Bourke scored 16 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field including three, three-pointers.
- Â Â Â Â Â Tommy Hunt (Smithfield, R.I./St. Andrew's) joined Bourke in double figures with 11 points.
- Â Â Â Â Â Kessly Felizor (Hightstown, N.J./Hightstown) topped the Blue and Gold with eight rebounds, the fourth straight game he has led the team on the glass.
- Â Â Â Â Â A back-and-forth beginning of the game saw New Haven lead 10-9 midway through the first half before a Saint Rose run gave the Golden Knights the advantage heading into halftime.
- Â Â Â Â Â Saint Rose took a 37-27 lead five minutes into the second half before the Chargers went on a 12-6 run in the next five minutes to cut the lead to 43-39 at the midway point. Bourke scored six points with Felizor, Mihailo Vasic (Novi Sad, Serbia) and Roy Kane Jr each getting a bucket in the run.
