Guddemi's Career High 16 Leads Chargers in Regular Season Finale

West Haven, Conn. – Senior Joshua Guddemi (Nottingham, England/Derby) closed out his collegiate career with a career high 16 points to lead the University of New Haven men's basketball team in a 60-52 loss to the visiting Le Moyne Dolphins. With the loss, the Chargers close out the 2015-16 season with an overall record of 8-18 and a mark of 5-15 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Guddemi's 16 points was part of three Chargers in double figures, joined by classmate Samir McDaniels (Roxbury, Mass./New Mission) and sophomore Tommy Hunt (Smithfield, R.I./St. Andrew's) who finished with 13 and 14 points, respectively. Among the leading scorers, McDaniels led the way from the field where he made half of his eight field goal attempts. He also led the team with 10 rebounds, his second straight double double and the fourth of the season.

Hunt scored the majority of his points from beyond the three point arc where he finished with a team-high three buckets. Guddemi would finish the game shooting 4-of-10 from the field, while converting on 7-of-11 at the free throw line. Guddemi also pulled down six boards, second most on the team.

As a team, the Chargers finished the game shooting 37.5 percent from the field on 15-of-40, including making six of their 22 attempts from outside the three point arc for 27.3 percent. The Chargers also trailed in the battle of the boards by a 37-25 margin.

Prior to the game, the Chargers honored their two seniors, McDaniels and Guddemi. Overall for their career, the pair has a combined record of 64-48 and played a valuable role in New Haven's first NE-10 Championship Game appearance. McDaniels and Guddemi were also part of the first back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearance in 2013 and 2014.
