GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The University of New Haven softball team saw the No. 25 Adelphi Panthers break open a tight game late, as the Chargers were upended 5-1 in the First Round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Wednesday afternoon. With the setback, New Haven is 23-15 overall on the season.

Victoria Cabral (New Britain, Conn./Miss Porter's School / Hofstra) had a pair of hits.

Taylor Luzzi (Fishkill, N.Y./John Jay),
Sierra Whitlock (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) and
Julie Devlin (Baldwin, N.Y./Northwood School) each had a hit for the Chargers.
--Cabral threw 1.2 innings of relief without giving up an earned run.
--Luzzi and
Kristine Liptack (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) each made spectacular defensive plays to keep the Blue and Gold in the game through the early and middle innings.
How it Happened:
--The Panthers manufactured a run with two hits and walk with two out in the third.
--Adelphi scored three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to take a 5-0 lead.
--The Chargers got on the board in the seventh when with Devlin on first, Cabral singled and the ball got by the leftfielder, allowing Devlin to score.
