SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The University of New Haven women's soccer team opened its Northeast-10 Conference slate, battling to a scoreless draw at Le Moyne on Saturday afternoon. With the result, the Chargers are 3-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference.
KEY PLAYERS
· Deandra Nash (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) made five saves in earning her third clean sheet of the season.
· Sarah Bosco (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) and Sierra Stein (Sherman, Conn./Immaculate) led New Haven with eight and seven shots respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· After a scoreless first half, the Chargers had one of their best opportunities of the match in the 57th minute when Bosco had two chances and Danielle Widmann (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) had one in a span of 11 seconds, but the Dolphins' keeper was able to turn them aside.
· Towards the end of the first overtime, Stein fired a ball towards the goal that hit the crossbar.
· New Haven had one more chance in the final minute of play, but Stein's shot from close range was turned aside by Anastasija Cumika.
BY THE NUMBERS
· The Blue and Gold held a 20-11 advantage in shots, but just a 6-5 edge in shots on goal.
· Both teams were offsides three times in the match.
