- Goldey-Beacom went on a 6-1 run before Van Dyke found Pergola for a three-point basket to level the score, 8-8. - After a made Lightning free throw and jumper, New Haven held Goldey-Beacom without a point for just over two minutes and in the mean time put together an 8-0 run to re-gain the four point lead. Oge made a layup to spark the run followed by a three-point basket made by Cubbage who got a pass from Pergola, who then made her own long-range shot assisted by Kerr.
- Goldey-Beacom scored the next seven points until Van Dyke hit a jump shot from senior Quana Smith (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman) to cut the Lightning lead to only one point.
- The Lightning tied their largest lead of the game with the last bucket of the half, a three-ball from Alanna Speaks with a minute remaining in the second quarter.
THIRD QUARTER NOTES:
- New Haven and Goldey-Beacom exchanged five points apiece before the Chargers picked up the pace and went on an 8-0 run that stretched just over three and a half minutes of play. Kerr got the run started with a layup and free throw, followed by a shot by Van Dyke with a hand by Pergola that give the Chargers their first lead in 9 minutes and 58 seconds. In the final 18 seconds of that stretch, New Haven grabbed four offensive rebounds but was unable to put up any second-chance points.
- New Haven capped the run as Cubbage had a big block on the defensive end and grabbed her own rebound, dribbled all the way in and was fouled as she sunk the layup and added a free throw for the three-point play to extend the Charger lead to four, the largest lead since the 6:35 mark in the second quarter.
- Goldey-Beacom was able to tie things back up with a layup with 2:45 left in the third but the Chargers possessed the lead for the remainder of the contest, extending that lead to three points at the third quarter buzzer.
FOURTH QUARTER NOTES:
- New Haven scored six points in the first 2:44 of the fourth quarter before Mirich put in a layup assisted on by Pergola to give the Chargers a six-point lead.
- Kerr halted Goldey-Beacom's chance of leveling the score as she intercepted a pass at the top of the arc and brought the layup all the way home to put the Chargers ahead by four points. After a Trowell free throw, Goldey-Beacom's Britani Bryson reached the 26-point mark with a layup with 21 seconds left in regulation to bring the game back to a one-possession lead for the Chargers.
- New Haven was able to run away with the win as Goldey-Beacom was forced to foul with New Haven in the bonus when Kerr hit both free throws and Cubbage hit another as the Chargers held off the Lightning for the 69-63 win.
