GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Graduate student Kendall Cietek (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) completed her seventh hat trick of the season to lead the No. 12 New Haven (8-2, 6-2 NE10) women's lacrosse team in an 18-9 loss to the undefeated and No. 1 Adelphi Panthers on Wednesday at Motamed Field.
Cietek was one of five different Chargers to score on the evening, while she was tied with senior Caitlin O'Brien (Branford, Conn./Branford) with a team-best three points as O'Brien tallied a pair of goals and assisted on one other. Rounding out the leading scorers on the day was sophomore Mackenzie Reh (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue Medford) who scored a pair of goals and junior Jessica Mazliah (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) who dished out a pair of helpers. Senior Nicole Belanger (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) and sophomore Samantha Galler (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) also scored goals for the Blue and Gold.
Suffering the loss between the pipes for New Haven was freshman Gianna Guerra (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) who played a complete game in goal. Guerra closed out the contest with a career-high 12 saves, her first collegiate contest with double digit stops.

HIGHLIGHTS
· Adelphi opened up the contest scoring the first four goals of the game, putting New Haven in a deficit they would not overcome.
· New Haven broke up that early Panthers rally with back-to-back goals from sophomore midfielder Mackenzie Reh (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue Medford). Those two goals came nearly five minutes apart with the first on a free position attempt and the second on an unassisted drive to the crease.
· Those two goals for the Chargers came during a span when the Blue and Gold defense held Adelphi off the board for nearly 10 minutes, however the Panthers responded to their drought by scoring four-straight goals to take an 8-2 lead with five minutes remaining before the break.
· The Chargers responded by scoring three of the final four goals in the half, to pull within four at the intermission, 9-5. All three of the goals at the end of the first half came as New Haven took advantage of Adelphi fouls, with Caitlin O'Brien (Branford, Conn./Branford) scoring one and Kendall Cietek (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) two, all of free position attempts.
· The two goals for Cietek began what amounted to a four-goal rally for the Chargers, spanning the intermission.
· Coming out of the halftime break, the Chargers would score three of the first four goals to pull within one, 10-8 with 23:54 remaining.
· Samantha Galler (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) opened up the second half scoring when she connected with O'Brien for the tally, while O'Brien scored her second of the day thanks to a pass from junior Jessica Mazliah (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North).
· Senior Nicole Belanger (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) also connected with Mazliah with that goal pulling New Haven as close as it would come in the contest.
· Following Belanger's goal, the Panthers offense sparked into gear and scored six straight and eight of the final nine goals of the contest.
· The lone New Haven goal down the stretch came from Cietek as she completed the hat trick, with all three of her scores coming on free position attempts.
