WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven field hockey team hosted its inaugural game at DellaCamera Stadium on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Franklin Pierce University Ravens by a 5-0 score.
Franklin Pierce took 16 shots in the first half, but the Chargers defense held the Ravens to only one goal by the break.
"We were able to sustain them during the first half," said head coach
Kelsi Lykens. "The defense held their own in the backfield. We did not give up, we were relentless."
The Ravens sustained attack broke through in the second half, scoring four more goals on 16 shots to come away with the 5-0 win.

Natalie Shaker (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) made 13 saves in her collegiate debut.
New Haven will travel to LIU Post for their first ever road game on Saturday, September 9
th. Game time is set for 12:00 pm at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on the campus of LIU Post.
