Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Early Goal Dooms Men's Soccer at Le Moyne

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team registered ten shots on the afternoon, but the Chargers came up short, falling to the Le Moyne Dolphins by a 3-0 score on Saturday afternoon.

The Dolphins wasted no time, netting the only goal they would need off a header from Dolphin forward Marek Weber. Le Moyne came back with another scoring threat just eight minutes later with a shot that hit the post. New Haven then fired three back-to-back shots, led with a shot on target by junior Sukrija Dudic (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) that was stopped by Dolphin keeper, Ben Beaury.

Le Moyne doubled their lead just under ten minutes into the second half with a tip in goal off of a centering pass. The Dolphins then finished the game's scoring in the 78th minute when forward Salar Faryar beat New Haven sophomore keeper Stefano Lorusso (Auckland, New Zealand/Sacred Heart College) on a breakaway one-on-one opportunity.

Sophomore Nate Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) registered the Chargers only other shot on goal just in the 87th minute, but the Chargers were unable to strike as Le Moyne secured the win.

On the day, Lorusso made six saves to bring his total to 53 saves on the season. Lorusso's 53 saves ranks first in the Northeast-10 conference and fourth in all of Division II.

New Haven returns to action next at Kayo Field for an NE10 match with American International. Kickoff on Tuesday, September 26th is set for 4:00 pm. For fans who are unable to attend the contest, live stats and video will be available on the Charger Sports Network.
