BOX SCORE LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss against Georgian Court University on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chargers defense held tough against the Golden Lions for most of the game as Georgian Court scored only once on 20 shots. The game's lone goal in the 23
rd minute came when Georgian Court's Dan Chochlinski put home a shot from the far right side of the five-yard line into the left corner of the net, beating sophomore goalkeeper,
Stefano Lorusso (Auckland, New Zealand/Sacred Heart College).
Despite being outshot on the afternoon, the Chargers had four opportunities in the second half to tie the game, but were unable to break through against the Golden Lions keeper, Yianni Kavarakas, who recorded his third shutout of the year.
On the day, Lorusso stopped ten shots with seven of his saves coming in the first half. Juniors
Sukrija Dudic (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) and
George Tighe (Tauranga, New Zealand/Tauranga Boys College) along with sophomore
Nate Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) all recorded shots on target for New Haven.
The Chargers open up Northeast-10 action on Tuesday, September 12
