WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's basketball team came up short against the Merrimack Warriors, 44-27, in a non-divisional Northeast-10 game on Wednesday evening at Charger Gymnasium.
Junior
Alexandria Kerr (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) lead the Chargers with 10 points and six rebounds. Sophomore
Kim Talley (Quakertown, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) pulled down six rebounds and had four steals, while junior
Allieyah Cubbage (North Plainfield, N.J./Roselle Catholic) notched a career-high six steals while assisting on two New Haven baskets.
New Haven forced a season-high 28 turnovers on the Warriors and had 15 steals on the evening, the second-most behind East Stroudsburg (16) in the first game of the season. The Chargers scored 14 points off Merrimack turnovers.
Each team was cold from the field in the first half with New Haven down at the midway point by 13 points. After Merrimack put in five points to start the second half, New Haven went on a 10-0 run to cut the game back within seven points. In the span, senior

Sianna Van Dyke (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) drained the only Charger three-pointer of the game, assisted by Cubbage. The third quarter saw New Haven outscoring the Warriors, 11-7.
Sophomore
Kim Talley (Quakertown, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) connected on a jumper to pull the game back to seven points, but the Warriors put the game out of reach with an 11-0 spurt that ended late in the fourth.
The Chargers return to action for a tough Northeast-10 game against the #23 Stonehill Skyhawks. Following the conclusion of the game, New Haven returns to Charger Gymnasium on Tuesday, January 23
